Seth Wakeman (January 15, 1811 - January 4, 1880) was a U.S. Representative from New York. Born in Franklin, Vermont, Wakeman attended the common schools. He moved to Batavia, New York, where he studied law. He was admitted to the bar and commenced the practice of law. He served as district attorney for Genesee County 1850-1856. He was a member of the New York State Assembly (Genesee Co, 1st D.) in 1856 and 1857. He served as member of the State constitutional convention in 1867 and 1868. Wakeman was elected as a Republican to the 42nd United States Congress, holding office from March 4, 1871, to March 3, 1873. Afterwards he resumed the practice of law.
